Scope of Work

Boston Building & Bridge Corp. was the General Contractor for the Boston Public Library, Faneuil Branch renovations. Located at 419 Faneuil Street in Brighton, the Faneuil Branch opened in 1931, replacing a temporary location on Brooks Street. The branch currently serves Brighton residents, workers, students, and community organizations and is known for its excellent children’s programming and collections, as well as author talks, book discussions, musical performances, art exhibitions, and more. The branch is renowned for its iconic Art Deco ornamentation, which was preserved in the renovation.  

The Faneuil Branch is the smallest, and oldest facility that has not been renovated, in the BPL system, but hosts a high in-person visitor rate. The renovations included a new addition that brings the Gross Square Feet up from 6,411 to 11,400. The improvements and renovations include accessibility updates to the entrance and restrooms, upgraded technology, a community room that caters to a range of programming needs, a new children’s space, sustainability enhancements to the building, and updated interior finishes and furnishings that still preserve the historic character
