Scope of Work
Boston Building & Bridge was the general contractor for the new Public Safety Complex in Sandwich, MA and the renovation of the existing Fire Sub-Station #2. Work at the Public Safety Complex included the new construction of a stand-alone 17,000[15,300] sf police station and 10,000[8,928] sf fire station. The public safety campus sits on 27-acres and may be the home of other future public use facilities and open spaces which was taken into consideration during the extensive site development.
The new 1-story police station consists of a sallyport, adult detention areas including booking area, cells, processing area and other police station related spaces such as administrative offices, E911 communication equipment room, dispatch room, locker rooms, community / training / Emergency Operations Center, storage, toilet rooms, and interview rooms. This facility brought state-of-the-art technology, much needed space, and added safety measures to the Sandwich Police Department.
The fire station is a 2-story pre-engineered metal building consisting of 5 apparatus bays, a decontamination room, radio room, S.C.B.A. Room, four firefighter bedrooms, a dayroom and kitchen, apparatus bay with training props.
Renovations to the Fire Sub-Station #2 include demolition and removal of hazardous material, renovation of the existing fire station restroom, kitchen & new apparatus bay floor drains, construct the new four-bedroom firefighter dormitory & connector and complete all site upgrades including but not limited to the installation of a new septic system and tight tank for the apparatus bay floor drains.
